Menard Community Demo Bank ("the project") is a capstone project built by software engineering students to show they can design and operate a banking platform. This policy explains what the demo stores while it runs.
Information the demo stores
- Account details you type during sign-up, such as name, email, phone, and address. Use made-up details.
- Simulated account activity, including demo deposits, transfers, loans, escrows, and messages.
- An audit log of actions taken by customers and staff, used to demonstrate accountability controls.
- Messages sent through the contact form, delivered by email to the project team.
How it is used
Data is used only to operate and demonstrate the platform during the course. It is never sold, shared for marketing, or used for credit decisions.
Where it is stored
The demo runs on managed cloud services (a hosted Postgres database and a web hosting platform). Passwords are hashed by the authentication provider and are never visible to the project team.
Retention
After the capstone presentation, the project team deletes the database, the hosting project, and the domain. All stored data is removed at that time.
What a real bank would include
A real U.S. bank would publish a Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act privacy notice explaining what it shares and how to opt out. This demo is not a financial institution and is not subject to those rules, so no such notice applies.
